The Tarmac Sport has an SL7 frame and is equipped with a Shimano 105 12-speed mechanical groupset - a lightweight, all-round bike at a reasonable price.

Aerodynamic
Aerodynamics was important in the development of the Tarmac and all road bikes, but lightness is also a key feature for road bikes. Previously, aerodynamic bikes always compromised on weight: the more drag was reduced, the more weight increased. With the Tarmac, the design philosophy was to keep it below or at the UCI minimum weight limit from the outset, without sacrificing aerodynamics. And with the help of the FreeFoil Shape Library, tools such as isotopic FEA analysis and a little magic from the best engineers in the industry, we created a Fact 9r frame that weighs just 1010 grams, without compromising on aerodynamics, stiffness or ride quality.

Development
Always with the goal of developing the best bike for competitive road racing, using Rider-First Engineered™ technology to ensure that the Tarmac was balanced and manoeuvrable in every frame size. Thanks to feedback from Specialized athletes on three professional teams—SD Worx, Deceuninck-Quick-Step, and Bora-Hansgrohe—we made changes to the Tarmac. We re-balanced the ride quality between the front and rear ends so that even the longest days in the saddle are more comfortable, without compromising the Tarmac's legendary handling and responsiveness.

Cockpit
In creating the Tarmac, Specialized has created a clean, integrated cockpit. The cable routing is designed for any configuration - including mechanical shifting, a traditional stem, round diameter handlebars, etc. - while maintaining aerodynamic characteristics.
