Silca TPU tube

TPU inner tubes have long been the preferred choice for carrying in your saddle bag because they take up so little space. The problem has always been that the plastic valves tended to detach from the tube itself, the valve cores were often pressed into the plastic causing leaks, and the sleeve joint where the tube was joined often broke. 
Having a spare inner tube is not much use if it breaks when you go to use it. SILCA decided to change this situation. TPU inner tubes feature patented technology that mechanically secures the valve to the tube itself and a welded joint that prevents failure. Silca has also used an aluminum threaded valve to help the inner tube withstand the heat of electric pumps and included a valve nut to ensure a secure, vibration-free design. 
TPU materials have made great strides in recent years and have almost matched the rolling resistance efficiency of latex inner tubes or a tubeless system, with a much lower weight than latex. Inner tubes weigh between 45 and 62 g, keeping weight to a minimum and reducing rolling resistance, as well as being compact for efficient packaging.
